Vintage Doll Shops

Vintage dolls and vintage doll shops may not seem very interesting, but they are quite fun to collect and visit, especially for women. Many vintage dolls are, after all, exquisitely crafted and have in them a certain kind of sublime beauty that current dolls fail to exhibit. Another fascinating thing about vintage dolls is that they allow people a glimpse of the values assigned to women as during those eras. Dressed in pretty and elaborate little frocks, or being soft and comfortable rag dolls, these little “toys” can be used to reflect how girls were historically raised by society through the games that they were allowed to play and the toys they were allowed to have. Of course, collecting vintage dolls just may very well be for the sake of nostalgia or for the plain fact that they are really, really, pretty.

Vintage doll shops have also been around for a while, since the hobby of collecting started some centuries ago (though doll collecting is quite recent, relatively speaking). It is very interesting to note that there are, at the moment, very few physical vintage doll shops in the country, and even fewer that that are quite as focused as some doll collectors may like. Still, vintage doll shops DO exist, and part of the fun is in the search.
