Vintage Music Shops

Vintage music is very much in nowadays, and to some, it is no surprise – a lot of what makes up music as we know it had been influenced, one way or another, by the music that preceded it. Of course, with the turn of the century, it seemed that nostalgia has made way for stronger appreciation of music from the past, and vintage music – music that first surfaced some decades ago – was replayed over the radio and remade by various contemporary artists. Younger audiences soon fell in love with this vintage music and eventually sought out ways to hear this music as they were meant to be heard.

Vintage music shops do not, in fact sell CDs of old music – normal record stores do that. What vintage music shops sell are actual records (those big, black discs) or cassette tapes, and the various monophonic and stereophonic devices that would play them. Needless to say, vintage music shops tend to be VERY technical and VERY streamlined, catering to the requirements of their clients. The reason why this is so is because vintage music shops are very much dedicated replicating the sound and feel of the music when they were first released (re-releases have been “cleaned up” extensively, and to some, this means the music has lost its integrity). Therefore, vintage music shops tend to have loyal customers.

We are currently working on a listing of vintage music shops for this section, sorted by location. Please bear with us, and if you would like to contribute, please send us vintage music shop details.
